Clinical hypnotherapy is a structured therapeutic modality applied within defined ethical and professional boundaries. In this program, you will learn how to ethically assess, plan, and conduct hypnotherapeutic interventions for clinical issues including anxiety, trauma responses, habit disruption, pain and sleep regulation, and emotional resilience — with a focus on professional standards and client safety.

Your Path to Becoming a Clinical Hypnotherapist

At Therapeutic Solutions Academy, our comprehensive practitioner program blends neuroscience, hypnotherapy, counselling, and professional practice management. Each weekend builds step-by-step skills, ensuring graduates leave confident, competent, and ready to practice. Here’s what you can expect in each module of our training program:

Module 1: Foundations of Hypnosis & Clinical Ethics

This opening module lays the groundwork for your hypnotherapy journey. You’ll explore the history of hypnosis, what hypnosis truly is (and what it is not), and the science of brainwaves. Together, we’ll dispel myths and misconceptions, clarify the roles of the conscious and subconscious mind, and examine the power of suggestion. Practical training includes common hypnotic inductions, an introduction to the stages of hypnosis, and ethical foundations of clinical practice. Students also learn about informed consent, confidentiality, contraindications, and the importance of working within a clear scope of practice.

Module 2: Neuroscience & Client Assessment

This weekend dives into the brain-based foundations of hypnotherapy. You’ll study the fight/flight/freeze responses, how hypnosis alters brainwave patterns, and the principles of neuroplasticity including Hebb’s law (“neurons that fire together wire together”). Students learn how suggestion works at the neural level, the role of the Reticular Activating System (RAS), and how memory reconsolidation enables emotional healing. Practical applications include using imagery to rewire patterns, designing pre-talks that build trust, and developing client assessment and intervention plans.

Module 3: Polyvagal Theory & Counselling Skills

Here, you’ll discover how safety and regulation are at the heart of therapeutic change. Drawing on Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, this module explores neuroception, ventral vagal activation, and how hypnosis naturally supports regulation. You’ll learn to recognize signs of client dysregulation, apply co-regulation techniques, and integrate counselling skills that enhance rapport and therapeutic safety.

Module 4: Inductions, Forgiveness & Regression

This module expands your hypnotic toolkit. Students practice rapid inductions and learn when and why to use them, alongside the importance of deepening methods. Therapeutic applications include guiding forgiveness of others and self, conducting safe regression work, avoiding false memory implantation, and using future pacing to lock in change. Anchoring techniques are introduced to help clients build lasting success.

Module 5: Internal Family Systems & Parts Work (I)

Weekend five introduces Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS) model and its integration with hypnosis. You’ll learn how managers, firefighters, and exiles function within the psyche, and practice un-blending techniques to access Self-leadership. Emphasis is placed on befriending protectors, working with reluctant parts, and bridging IFS with Ego State and traditional parts therapies. Students experience how hypnosis uniquely facilitates dialogue with protective and resistant parts.

Module 6: Internal Family Systems & Parts Work (II)

Building on the previous weekend, this module deepens your IFS skills. You’ll learn to safely work with exiles, guide unburdening processes, and facilitate communication between polarized parts. Practical demonstrations show how to help clients integrate healed parts, assign them new supportive roles, and develop powerful integration stories that foster resilience and wholeness.

Module 7: Trauma, Anxiety & Hypnotherapy for Children

This intensive weekend equips you to work safely with trauma, anxiety, and PTSD. You’ll study how trauma imprints in the brain and subconscious, learn grounding and containment strategies, and practice visualization methods for anxiety reduction. Students gain skills in creating “safe places,” using trauma-sensitive language, and recognizing signs of re-triggering. The weekend also covers adapting hypnotherapy techniques for children and adolescents, with playful and creative approaches to meet their developmental needs.

Module 8: Specialized Clinical Applications

This wide-ranging module equips you with hypnotherapy strategies for diverse clinical issues:

Weight management and body connection
Smoking/vaping cessation using structured suggestion sets
Insomnia and sleep regulation mechanisms
Pain management, exploring how hypnosis alters pain perception
Grief and depression, with compassionate protocols
Childbirth hypnosis, preparing mind and body for positive birth
Fears and phobias, using desensitization and reframing
Guided imagery, promoting physical and emotional health outcomes

Module 9: Advanced Applications & Safety Protocols

Weekend nine covers advanced clinical areas and professional responsibilities. Students learn dream analysis and group seminar facilitation, alongside protocols for assessing suicide risk, responding to threats of violence, and mandatory reporting in cases of child abuse. Hypnotherapeutic applications include OCD, memory improvement, habit control, nail biting, trichotillomania, addictions, and general self-improvement. This weekend ensures you are equipped for complex cases with both skill and ethical clarity.

Module 10: Professional Practice, Business & Growth

The final module prepares you to step confidently into professional practice. You’ll explore legal considerations, office vs. online practice setup, branding, and finding your niche. Marketing essentials are covered, including how to position yourself, attract clients, and grow your practice sustainably. You’ll learn structured approaches for client intake, setting expectations for change, and building systems for growth and scalability. The weekend concludes with guidance on writing both a full business plan and a concise one-page plan, setting the foundation for a thriving hypnotherapy career.
